Basketball at the O2

On May 14th, teachers, children and family members were invited to a special weekend trip to the O2 arena in Greenwich to watch the British Basketball finals.

The day consisted of the woman’s final, hoops aid (fronted by Ade Adepitan), a celebrity match, a half time performance by Tinchy Stryder, followed by the main men’s final event.

The day was a thrilling experience and an insight into just how good some of these players are. A few gasps were heard during the wheelchair men’s match as this showcased some incredible athleticism and dedication, as well as amazing upper body strength needed to compete and move at speed.

The main event proved to be an exciting battle between the Eagles and Riders. Both teams looked ready and showed an impressive array of skills, teamwork and movement. Ultimately, the Riders were too strong for the Eagles and quickly ran up a 29-8 lead and which continued until the final result of 84-63 in the Riders’ favour.

A great day out and an experience many will not forget.
