A cold, dreary evening in November was brightened by 90 minutes of handball at Newham Leisure Centre.
Twenty boys and girls, from Years 5 and 6, made up five handball teams. The whole group looked smart and ready for action in their new Southern Road t-shirts.
Each Southern Road team played 3 games against teams from other Newham schools.
Everyone played to the best of their ability and demonstrated both amazing individual skills and wonderful teamwork and cooperation.
After a high octane 80 minutes of ups-and-downs, missed chances, great attempts, wonderful goals and laughs and calls from the crowd, one Southern Road team got into the semi-final!
Despite a good team effort, the semi was lost but that did little to dampen the spirits of Southern Road after a great evening of sport.
