Admissions

We would welcome you applying for a place at our school.  To do this you must follow the correct process for your child’s age as detailed below.

Nursery Admissions

Your child’s name can be placed on our Nursery Admissions waiting list at the age of 2.  Parents/Carers are requested to complete a admission form, which can be found here or collected from and returned to the school office along with the correct forms of identification. Regrettably we cannot accept registration of children over the telephone.  Parents/Carers are contacted when a vacancy arises.

If your child is offered a place at Southern Road, you will be asked to attend an admissions interview, during which time you will meet with the Attendance Officer and have any queries or worries addressed.  At the time of admission you will receive a copy of our current prospectus and have the opportunity to purchase a book bag as well as a bag in which to keep PE kit.  We also have homework folders for sale in the school office.

Please note that before deciding to apply to Southern Road you are welcome to make an appointment with the Attendance Officer in order to look around the school.

Fair Access

The law requires that each local authority must have a Fair Access Protocol (FAP), agreed with the majority of schools in its area to ensure that for In Year admissions unplaced children, especially the most vulnerable, are offered a place at a suitable school as quickly as possible.  In agreeing a protocol, the local authority must ensure that no school – including those with available places – is asked to take a disproportionate number of children who have been excluded from other schools, or who have challenging behaviour.  Southern Road Primary has signed up to the LB Newham’s Fair Access Protocol.
