The Rugby World Cup comes to Newham!

Southern Road children had been given an amazing opportunity to welcome the Rugby World Cup on behalf of Newham during September. An excellent morning, attended by immaculately behaved pupils, even though it was 8am in the morning! The chosen few sat with beaming smiles across their faces for the cameras and film crew as the actual world cup sat gleaming beside them. The biggest surprise of the morning was the appearance of England’s most capped Rugby player, Jason Leonard! The giant of a man proudly held the gold cup aloft with both hands, a privilege only given to those who have actually won the World Cup professionally, as Jason did with England back in 2003.

Let’s hope this inspires a new generation of rugby players, especially from Southern Road Primary!
